After seeing the movie "Queen of the Summer" about colony collapse disorder I very concerned about what we can do to help preserve our the bee population.  I rejoice in every one I see.

This dragonfly lived in our skylights several days last summer. Finally he landed on the tile floor and after taking some photos we carefully carried him outdoors where, after a few minutes, he flew away.

Artworks is preparing to present "June in January"  hoping to warm up our next exhibit.  Thought this winged friend might fit the theme. White Butterfly and Hummingbird III are part of the, Small Wonders Collection.

Wind Surfing

The background for "Wind Surfing" was painted some time ago but it never really felt finished.  I'm sure it was waiting for the Eagle that flew over today.
What magnificent raptures. We have so many of them on our island.

Open Studio Tour?

No, I won't be on Whidbey's Open Studio Tour, so here's a picture of where I work.  Getting ready for rotation at Artworks Gallery and have pieces selected ready to pack.

Actually I'll be out of town and unable to even attend this year's tour.  Sorry to miss it, always a great chance to get inspired.

A is for Anemone

One of summer's last gifts, Japanese anemone is a  flower closing it petals each evening to provide a place for fairies to sleep. Anemone's closing petals are also said to predict rain.
