Chicken Fun

I had such a fun time watching a demonstration by Terry McDonald I decided to come home and try it.  Everyone keeps asking me if I've painted my chicken and now I can say I have. It was a interesting process, applying molding paste to the canvas and coating it with black gesso.  You can see the black coming through as an outline to the subjects. Now they need a home, a coop?

Cleaning the Front Porch of Heaven

Think it's about finished. I remembered the wonder ballet PNB did a couple years ago, Dancing on the Front Porch of Heaven and the name has always stuck in my mind.  When I started the background I wasn't sure where I was going, but wanted to do the circles.  Realizing they weren't raindrops I decided they must be something else and they were definitely drifting down. Since the name came to me I have spent time wondering what sort of debris would be wafting down from heavens entrance.  Something for you to contemplate this rainy weekend.

Spring Arrivals

 Working on something new.

"Guess who went to the Tulip Fields"
Still have to add 2 Peony, 2 more tulips, a lost leaf and something to anchor the bottom.  Got a ways to go before starting on final touches.

The Sentinel

 Knew I would paint him when I first saw him  spring on the back porch feeder early this spring.  His throat was as shiny as a new copper penny.  It was amazing to see.  And he was so fluffy.

Raven project at the Schack

I was very please to see the lovely display of my Raven book, giclees, and cards set up at the Schack Art Center in Everett.  

Soaring Home

 A friend posted the most beautiful sunset and gave me permission to use it in a painting. I changed the large electrical line running through it into the beautiful bald eagles one frequently sees soar above Whidbey Island.
One evening we actually had 8 circling over out home.
