Daybreak II

In the middle of winter thinking back to memorable times last summer.
Playing with complementary colors, blue and orange. And looking for a feeling of dance in the clouds with the bird adding to the movement.

Winter Solstice

I tune the hearth song of my soul
loving words upon my lips,
light-giving songs upon my heart,
life-bringing praises upon my eyes,
The music of comfort resound in the
souls of all beings,
preserving them in peace
as the sun and new moon renew themselves
this night.

Winter Solstice is a celebration of the darkest time of the year, when the moon reigns with it’s promise of renewal.  A time for rest, reflection and refreshing, a time to make resolutions for the coming year.  Each falling leaf continues an ancient poem wafting though the cool winter air to drift into our minds and help us make thoughtful choices and aid us in our life decisions.

The poems used come from a Celtic devotional and the Carmina Gadelica.

Waves I

On Whidbey’s Open Studio Tour I visited an artist who painted the most exquisite waves on silk using an ancient Japanese method.  I wanted to create my own moving waves.  The large waves evolved they became the perfect background for a solitary giant of the ocean and I carefully placed the Orca Whale.

The Orca whales often traverse the Saratoga Passage on the west side of Whidbey Island, Wa.

A 14 x 11 giclee archival print is available.

Friday Night

SOLD
Friday Night is a celebration shown as a buoyancy of liquid and bubbles floating in or out of a special glass. A toast to a week well done and to the upcoming weekend may it be spent with family and friends.

I added the circles, which might be confetti, balloons or olives.  Take your pick.

Acrylic, mixed media on canvas.
24 x 12.

Ocean Aire

SOLD
Ocean Aire is a semi-abstract memory of a wonderful trip we took to the great barrier reef in Australia. We have such a gigantic task ahead of us to guard these wonders of nature from extinction.
Acrylic collage on paper 11 x 14
A 10 x 8 giclee archival print is for sale .

White Peacock

SOLD
White Peacock is an artwork inspired by the music of American impressionist composer, Charles Tomlinson Griffes.  I had played the piano version of the White Peacock for years and  enjoyed hearing the orchestral version.  But all the pictures of peacocks I had seen were the beautiful turquoise colored species,  So I did some research on the elusive white bird and decided he would look lovely in the moonlight.  So I placed my peacock in a rather exotic moonlit tree with a few sparkles in his feathers.
Acrylic collage on Canvas
24 x 12 image size in black floating frame with gold edge.
SOLD

Cello Music
