This lovely vine in the Mandevilla family bloomed so beautifully last summer I had to paint it. This is the Dipladenia variety, it's more bushing than the vining Mandevilla, although it is vining up a black wire trellis. Social Climber Acrylic on Canvas 30 x 15
Finishing up summer paintings. When I walk the lower level of my garden in the early morning I can look up and see the lilies on the wall with the sun shining through them. Sunlit Acrylic on 11 x 14 canvas
Working on something new. Lady Slippers in the deep dark woods. Might use it as a name. Or, Lost Shoes, just kidding. Mixed Media, Acrylic on 16 x 20 canvas. We had beautiful Lady Slippers that grew around our pond in New Hampshire. Always fun to photograph. They were the rose colored variety. These are the out of my mind variety.
Love the new frame from Catherine DeWitt framing.
Gives it a country French feel.
Showed it this weekend at the Useless Bay Country Club Event and now it's at Greenbank in Artworks Gallery. artworkswhidbey.com
But now I think I've found it a permanent place at home.
So intrigued with Wallpaper (patterened) backgrounds. Thinking I will show these when I am featured artist at Artworks Gallery in August. May put one in the Freeland Library during July.
The Egret is sometimes associated with peace and harmony. This quiet Egret is waiting for Peace. I was working on this when horrendous things were happening in Aleppo. No one deserves the disaster the poor civilians of that town are having to endure. Bird of Peace Acrylic 16 x 20 Canvas
Something new for Spring. Totally inspired by the wonderful works of Kehinde Wiley. I painted flowers of the season over a pattern designed background. Hopefully will give a feeling of delft ware behind the tulips
I always loved reading the Shel Silverstein books with my children. The subjects and the flow of the poetry stuck in my mind. I see the steps as curved stairs of a library where books of ideas that spark the imagination are stored.
